I KNOW THAT I'VE GOT ISSUES BUT YOU'RE PRETTY MESSED UP TOO ([info]skinflicks) [30 Mar 2009|06:34pm]
Alexander Hess was born in Santa Monica, California in 1986. The son of a hotelier and his second wife, he has four stepsiblings but grew up separately from them as they are all some years older. Alex grew up mostly in Las Vegas despite being born in California, because his father owned a chain of hotels and wanted to live in the most successful - and that was the Chameleon in Nevada. Alex spent a lot of his early childhood away from the hotel, though, because his mother believed it wasn't a good idea for her precious little boy to be exposed to the wild environment of Vegas. He was sent to boarding school at thirteen and returned to Las Vegas permanently at eighteen after deciding to take a year out of college - a year which stretched into five, at last count. He has no intention of returning to education, in truth. He just wants to live the high life his father's money makes for him.

In school, Saint David's in New York, Alex was a well-behaved boy. He played sports, he rarely cut classes, and he was never the type to be caught in flagrante with the headmaster's son in the dorm rooms (well, other than that one time... and they didn't get caught). He wasn't the definition of a model student, but he certainly put in a good appearance of being perfect. His only flaw was his lack of ambition. His main motivation was to get out of school with a good GPA and the ability to get into college if necessary - not because he planned to go but because he wanted to keep his parents off his back. (Not that his father really cared. He always told Alex that he didn't need college to get ahead - look at me, son, I didn't go to a fancy college and see me now.) His mothe wanted him to get the best education at the best college, and Alex wanted to keep her sweet. She could be a real nightmare on the subject, but after graduating from Saint David's, he managed to persuade her that he needed a break from the oh-so-hard life that had been afforded to him at the school. He got his wish. He was granted a year's break from education, and immediately began to think of ways he could prolong his stay of execution.

Since the age of eighteen (he's twenty-three now), Alex has lived in an atmosphere of temptation and debauchery, with access to anything he wants. The staff at the Chameleon are more than willing to accommodate his every whim because, after all, his dad pays their bills. Depending on how you look at it, it's almost fortunate that his parents divorced before the end of his first year out of school. It meant his mother wasn't around the hotel as much to bug him about going to university, and if she did show up, she would only come in to yell at her soon-to-be-ex husband and check her son was being treated properly. She didn't see the hedonistic lifestyle Alex was leading, all sex and drugs, and later gambling once he was old enough. It wasn't his money he was wasting, so he wasn't that bothered. His father could afford it. This all makes Alex sound like a stereotypical spoilt brat, but he doesn't really have that attitude. No, money doesn't mean much to him, because he's always had it, and no, education isn't important to him because he'll never need it. All that said, he's a nice guy both on the surface and deep down, and can be very naive about how people view him. For most of the people he hangs out with, he's just a supplier, be it of money or sex or drugs. They don't genuinely like him. Alex is totally innocent to the way that people are, and he doesn't realise that they only want to use him for what they can get out of him.

Now 23, Alex lives in the Chameleon Hotel, and spends most of his time avoiding his father's company (they get along fine, but Alex can't truly claim to respect the guy or want to be around him) or down in the casino, not always gambling but just soaking up the atmosphere of the place. For now, he loves the city of sin, and has no intention of leaving it any time soon.
